How refreshing!

This is the central courtyard of the Japan Pavilion.
You now stand at the very heart of the cycle.

Before you stretches a vast reflecting pool. Its crystal-clear surface welcomes you.
The water once existed within food waste, but, with the help of microorganisms, it has been reborn, pure and clean.

By day it shimmers under the sunlight.
At dusk it glows with gentle illumination, as if the entire space itself is breathing.

As you gaze at the rippling water, empty your mind and reflect on the endless flow of the cycle.

Peeking out from between these wooden walls stand the various exhibits of the Japan Pavilion.
When the Expo ends, everything here will be dismantled, returning once more to the cycle.

The place between lives.
